On poverty's edge
Disabled Senior Citizen lives on $556.00 Social Security

This widow told me out of her $557.00 monthly Social Security disability check, she has had about $50.00 left after paying household bills. She carefully controls household utility usage, but small crises cut into her meager budget two months ago, and she fell behind in payments.

DECEIVED BY A CHURCH :
A church in Oklahoma City advertised they would pay utility bills. A man from California had come with money to help people. After giving them her gas bill and her drivers license to photo copy, she said the pastor indicated they would take care of it.

He had promised to pay the whole bill for her.  Weeks later she learned that no action had been taken.  Friends of hers also had the same lack of follow through, she said. When she asked the church secretary what happened, they told her, "We have no record of your application."

Maybe they were overwhelmed and could not fulfill their promise. In any case, while she had at first been given hope by the promise of God's people, she now is discouraged and emotionally down. This surely is not pleasing to God.
