An e-mail
request for aid--
PULMONARY
DISEASE
December11, 2002
UPDATE -
THE BASIC NEED HAS BEEN MET.
In her
own words
I am a 51 year old, living alone.
I have always had severe asthma, but in July 2002, I had a
major attack and was hospitalized for 10 days for acute deep lung
infection. The asthma has evolved into Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and emphysema. I am still on oxygen and
breathing treatments four times daily and cannot go back to work for an
indefinite period of time.
AT
THE HOSPITAL SHE CONTRACTED A STAPH INFECTION WHICH CAUSED A SEVERE SKIN
RASH
During the hospital stay I developed a Staph infection. I
broke out in sores from the back of my head down to my toes. I do
receive free medical treatment and receive most of my meds on patient
assistance programs.
ATOPIC
DERMATITIS AND FOLLICULITIS
Two doctors and a patient assistant had looked at my skin
condition and couldn't diagnose, so referred me to a dermatologist.
I finally rounded up enough money on the 17th of October to go to Later
a dermatologist diagnosed this as acute atopic dermatitis and
folliculitis. The itching was so severe it actually hurt. I
would stand in cold water and still do occasionally until my skin
wrinkled trying to get relief.
I receive a rent subsidy of $100.00 a month utility
allowance from HUD. Because I have not been able to work, I have
applied for SSDI.
In the meantime, my utilities have piled up. An agency has
paid my current electric bill which really helps.
MOST
URGENT NEED
My water is going to be cut off and with my skin condition I must take a
shower to be able to apply needed meds on a daily basis. My bill
is $99.47. I was hoping (and
praying) that you could help me pay this bill. That would keep my
water on until at least January or February and hopefully by then I'll
have received Social Security benefits.
BACKGROUND
In 1994 I was a victim of domestic assault and lost sight
in one eye after two unsuccessful surgeries. I have also been in
counseling, being treated for Severe Chronic Depression,
Agoraphobia, Post Traumatic Stress. They provide all mental health
meds at a low cost of $2.00.
If there is anyway you could possible help I would be forever indebted
to you and your organization.
