Disruption of income is a common cause of
short-term poverty. Some persons can make quick adjustments and
move on. But not everyone, Darrel's dilemma is a case in point.
He is on total disability
Extra medical expenses caused him to fall behind in his child
support payments.
Normally we are on the other side trying to
help a single parent who is not receive payments from her former
mate.
This month DHS removed the full amount of his bank balance.
So he has nothing for rent or a small car payment. He may
loose his car and be evicted.
He has a heart condition for which he was recently
hospitalized and severe diabetes.
Another Problem
Two weeks ago he moved from one apartment unit to another.
He believes that a cleaning crew stole papers, clothes and
dishes. This included his birth certificate and his DD214, his
Air Force discharge papers.
A chair of his was thrown in the dumpster.
This was just another thing that further created distress in
this man's life.
His son, Michael age 12, now lives with grandparents in Moore.
A 9-year old boy lives with his mother
He is an active church member.
