One's
Soul Revealed
"Charitable
giving is as close as we can get to truly free financial behavior. You are
not obligated to give (and lots of people don't). You aren't buying
anything you need, like food or transportation or housing, or even
anything you enjoy, like vacations or premium cable channels. You get
nothing out of giving except the satisfaction of your soul. And so, giving
shows something about a person's soul."

As a child
Elderly Wife Seeks Employment
An elderly
couple.
THE BASIC NEED HAS BEEN MET
Her husband, Allen
(born 1927) had kidney cancer and had his kidney removed. Now he has more
cancer. He receives
a Social Security check of $992.00; retirement
$271.38.
Their air conditioner
broke down and there were expensive car repairs. So she is seeking
employment to supplement their retirement budget. IHNM likes helping the
elderly. Will you join us?
They requested assistance with a prescription for her asthma. There are
other troublesome incidental needs.
Our interviewer referred her to St. Andrews R.C. church in her neighborhood (a
church that is known to help the poor), in case we could not help.
She is a very happy person. She laughs a lot.
They attend Kings Park
Baptist Church, she said she reads her Bible and prays daily. As a child she was
baptized in the Red River. We prayed with her for
this need, for Allen's healing, and for her health.
OTHER NEIGHBORS IN NEED
"Let us hold unswervingly to
the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us
consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good
deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit
of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you
see the Day approaching."
