Why Help The Poor

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead." James 2:13-17.

Sick  Elderly Couple

Update 9-05-07

This Basic Need Is Taken Care Of

This elderly couple is living on his SS Disability $966.00. He has bad knees and diabetes. She is going in tomorrow to see about getting SS Disability because of a blockage in her heart. She also has high blood pressure, diabetes. They diagnosed this problem about a month ago. She has been in the hospital twice and at the emergency room once in the last month. She is taking 12 pills a day.
They need assistance with OG&E $182.55.
She paid $75.00 of this need from their income. She has contacted Guild of St. George, Salvation Army. Our interviewer referred her to Neighborhood Services Organization and St. James Catholic Church (who are known to help). They attend Revival for Christ Club in Moore Oklahoma  - They don't have a benevolence fund.

She reads her Bible daily. Prays daily; they pray for each other. They will have their 37th Wedding Anniversary next month. Our interviewer prayed with her for healing for her and her husband, for this need, for the Lord to watch over them.

Who will come to their financial rescue?

The Bible contains more than 300 verses on the poor, social justice, and God's deep concern for them.

Deut. 26:12. When you have finished paying the complete tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the orphan and the widow, that they may eat in your towns, and be satisfied.
