PAGE TWO -- Pat Patterson
has suffered clinical depression his whole
life. He needs to know Jesus Christ."
Pat did pray with Al Litchenburg to receive
Christ in his heart. Years earlier Larry Wood also prayed with Pat this
way. Although we saw little joy in his life, we believe he had accepted
Jesus as best he could. Many of us agonized over his condition, hoping
that he would know the fullness of God's presence.
The night before he died he and I talked
on the phone (the second time that day). His voice was very weak. I pleaded
with him to just release it all into God's hands. Margaret prayed that
Pat would experience the peace and comfort of God. He genuinely thanked
me for the kindness he had been shown. At his grave side service, three
of us spoke. I ended my remarks by saying, "Thank you Pat for giving all
of us a chance to be closer to Jesus as we loved you." He lived alone for
many years. He was afraid and oppressed much of his life, but we believe
he did not die alone.
This brief account shows only a sampling
of the many acts of kindness shown by dozens of caring individuals. BACK TO PAGE
