When
the Apostle Paul was anticipating the offering for the poor Christians
in Jerusalem,
he wrote to the Christians in Corinth, urging them to excel “in this grace of giving.” Paul’s famous line about sowing was in regard to sharing with others. When you help other people you will be given more, so you can SHARE MORE. God gets into this process. He is all giving, and when His people demonstrate this trait of His, He is there. Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. "As it is written: ‘He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.’"
God is honored when the community sees
our amazing generosity toward people's needs
