IHNM
is mindful of the spiritual needs of individuals.
Interviewers watch for a way to discuss
this aspect of their lives. In some cases we offer to pray for the person.
We also ask God to remind us later when to pray.
Usually we ask the client, "Have you
been trusting your Creator for an answer?" This often leads into a conversation
that shows us what their spiritual condition is. Most clients are willing
to talk about this. However, when someone seems put off, or embarrassed,
the interviewer moves away from the subject for the moment. Later, we might
say, near the end of the conversation: "Incidentally we have noticed that
people who really trust God often receive surprising results."
Then we explain that we will do our
best to help them either way. We don't want to
make the love conditional.
Surprisingly, even those who have not
claimed Christ as their personal savior, often seem interested in the conversation
about the Christian faith. We do not attempt to push them toward a particular
doctrine or denomination. If they seem interested, we talk about the most basic tenants of the Bible.

Some will receive special mailings that
gives helpful practical advice and Biblical wisdom to draw upon. Financial
assistance is a vital part of the process. We hope that clients who had
been hurt by the "unlove" of a religious organization may take a second
look at God's promises.
Individuals and churches are invited
to use this list of urgent
needs.
-
Post them on church
bulletin boards
-
Print them in church
bulletins, or midweek papers
-
Hand out a printed
list of Current Needs to teachers
-
of adult classes
-
Tell friends at work.
Why not look for people where you
live to help. Ask local agencies. Utility companies may provide
a name. If you do not know anyone close by, then help us serve those we
know.
You may know a person who has a special
interest in serving others. If so, please give them our web site address
