Long before Jesus gave us His now famous parable of the "good Samaritan," the Golden Rule was known.  Scholars say that a version of the Rule existed even in pre-Bible times.   So good people have always known that it is good to help a neighbor.  My heart tells me so.

Continued . . .

Some days, there are no funds with which to help even the most desperate and deserving persons.   Even if we should have funds with which to help more people, we do not immediately say, "yes."   We give the Lord a chance to get involved in our decision making process.
Sometimes, a person we initially were inclined to help, keeps getting shuffled back in our minds and someone else who we may at first had not considered is moved forward.  Our process is quite different than governmental agencies.  The legislature determines for them, exactly who receives aid, and who does not.
This ministry has a wonderful advantage over the public and governmental care givers.

  1. We can pray with clients.

  2. Talk with them about their position with God; encourage them toward a closer walk.

  3.  We don't have to help everyone who "qualifies".

  4. We can do more than minimal help when it seems appropriate.

  5. Lead them to see alternative courses of action they can take to help themselves.

  6. We talk with clients not as inquisitors but (hopefully) as someone who cares.

We keep praying that God will send us the ones He wants us to help.
