The Street People -
This ministry does not generally aid street people, but
those in homes: the elderly, sick, disabled, and single working parents.
Tangible
Expressions of Love
Gifts from donors allow IHNM, Inc., to
-
pay part of an outstanding bill (to
the utility company, rental agent, etc.)
-
buy prescriptions,
-
pay for household
plumbing repairs,
-
purchase and mail Bibles and other materials.
Their Agenda / Our Agenda |
What Kind of Help?
"Throwing
money" at a situation does not really help; but wisely using money
convincingly demonstrates God's love to someone who is financially
distressed. Jesus often spoke of giving money to the poor. He said doing
so builds up treasure in heaven. So the one who sh ares resources
benefits himself as well as the recipient.
Through In His Name Ministries' Gratitude
letter, other mailings and in telephone conversations, clients are
pointed to biblical principles, and practical advice. We hope they are
encouraged.
Some ministry helpers agree to purchase and deliver
groceries. This personal touch is a good way to meet the people who need
a godly friend.
An Exceptional Example:
Harold S. who first took some groceries to a single
parent, later paid her tuition to a trade school, and helped keep the
woman's car running. She completed the
program and became self-sufficient.
Another person sends IHNM a check each month as relief
for a disabled grandmother who is raising a child whose mother died.
Sometimes needy people are introduced to one another,
when it seems appropriate. Loneliness is a common factor, so introducing
them to a new friend is beneficial.
Spiritual Values
Most clients are willing to talk about spiritual issues
and those who don't are, nevertheless, reminded that the God who created
them does have a plan for them. They are urged to find at least one
Christian friend, join a Bible study or a church fellowship. We are
amazed that some persons, even those who have attended church, have
never been prayed for. We have faith in the
truth that “when two or three are gathered together in Jesus name, He is
there in the midst of us.” — from Matthew 18:20
Many persons have been led to
make a decision to repent and to ask Christ into their lives. To these
we mail a Billy Graham Association packet and follow up with
other materials. Associates of the ministry may invite the one they have
helped to their church fellowship. |
